I am an associate professor in the University of Oklahoma’s Department of History of Science and editor of the Isis Bibliography of the History of Science.
My study of history focuses on the many ways that science and culture meet. I’m fascinated with the connections between religion, irreligion, and science. My history of American humanism has allowed me to explore what it means to be religious in the modern world and how it is that science can both attack and support religious views.
In my work, I always look for those resonant moments when scientists, philosophers, and religious thinkers all come together in an effort to understand the human condition.
