[W:Abraham Maslow], one of the founders of third force (or humanistic) psychology, became an intellectual figurehead for many humanists in the 1960s for his rejection of positivist and behaviorist psychology. Brought into the humanist circle during the editorship of Priscilla Robinson, he gave strength to a more emotional religious understanding of humanism.
