Felix Adler, 1851-1933

Adler was founder of the American Ethical Culture movement and professor of philosophy at Columbia University. At Columbia, Adler played an enormous role in promoting the vision of a non-theistic social movement that was compatible with modern thought, something that strongly influenced many of the graduate students in the school’s department of philosophy in the early decades of the twentieth century.
