Science popularizer and science fiction writer [W:Isaac Asimov] was heavily invested in the American humanist movement. He was selected as the Humanist the Year in 1984 by the American Humanist Association and served as their president from 1985 to 1992. He also signed the Humanist Manifesto II and helped to draft the humanist’s Statement Affirming Evolution as a Principle of Science.
