John Herman Randall Jr., 1899-1980

One of the prominent members of the faculty of philosophy at Columbia where he took his degree, John Herman Randall Jr.W was one of the signatories of the first Humanist Manifesto of 1933. Influenced by both Felix Adler and John Dewey, his book Religion and the Modern World, which he wrote with his father, presented a humanistic faith alongside a critique of modern materialistic culture.
