Birth control advocate [W:Margaret Sanger] was one of the first people to be given a Humanist of the Year award. Her strongly anti-Catholic views and progressive social policies brought her to the attention of mid-century humanists. Her promotion of eugenics was something she had in common with several other mid-century humanists, like Hermann Muller and Julian Huxley.
