The University of Michigan philosopher [W:Roy Wood Sellars], a Unitarian humanist, authored the first draft of the Humanist Manifesto. His early books, The Next Step in Religion (1918) and Religion Coming of Age (1928), were efforts to put his naturalistic philosophy to work.
